I don't know how many people remember, but I personally think that the 4.0 wipe which followed pretty much the same outline as option 4 was the worst thing EVER to happen to Minerealm. It brutally scarred the landscape, leaving ridiculous cliffs and generally godawful terrain I cant even describe. Even today you can see it on the map around Abyssus. If this was to happen again, some brilliant terraforming would need to be done with world edit.

I would still really enjoy seeing a wipe. To compensate for this I had an Idea, What if intelli showed us all a preview of the wipe and had us all vote on it? So he would wipe public and make another opinion poll. Consider it like a Minerealm event with that new map version only up for like day for people to fly around and view in creative.[Or he could just make a picture of it like we were viewing the map on the forums] This way if we all discover we were horribly wrong about this we can still switch back and try to figure something else out.

Alternatively, Intelli could simply limit the number of realms you can protect. If it was made so that each player could only protect up to 25 realms each, then the scars wouldn't be as bad. You are still able to protect your giant builds as long as you get together with your friends.

Last time the staff trawled a lot of seeds to find a decent match. A full wipe is better for the health of Minerealm than a 4.0 2.

I was thinking and although it may be a bit chaotic and some people may not like it, It might work if Intelli brought back the multiple spawns feature from a while back and then players could choose to have their realms
Moved to around one of the spawns so that the terrain wouldn't ruin their realms when it was added. Unfortunately, I know little about world editing and I'm not sure if moving realms to different locations is possible but it seems to me like a good possible solution.

Intelli promised there would never be a full wipe.

Anyway, I'd be all for a public realm wipe, but for two reasons:

1. My realm is integrated to fit with the land around it. I would be terribly sad if my beautiful rolling hills got replaced, even with other rolling hills.

2. I know of several occupied epic builds that are only partially private due to financial reasons--my brother's house, for instance.

The need for a wipe is inevitable in my opinion, be it a public realm wipe or a full wipe. As a new player it's simply not attractive to play on a server filled with noob-huts and where public trees are as rare as gold ore. On top of that you are playing in a world generated quite a long time ago which means you're missing a bunch of features. Ofcourse, you have the wild for access to some of these features but ideally you want to spend most of your playing time surrounded by these features rather than having to put a special effort into soughting them out (and pretty much no one spends the majority of their playing time in the wild). This is the reason I think just wiping the wild will not be enough as the new features will still be missing in the main world you play in (and as a new player the wild is not something you run into very quickly).

In the end attracting and keeping hold of new players is what keeps the server alive as people get banned and veterans slowly leave the server. I think the recent decline in server activity shows that something is stopping new players from sticking around and I would put my money on it being the state of the map.

A public realm wipe being ugly may be a concern, however, due to the previous wipe it is already ugly so it's not going to get much worse if you do it again (I guess there are more private realms now but that doesn't necessarily mean there are more borders). I would be all for a full wipe as well though, that might even make some of the veterans become more active again.

I think if a full wipe is done, the current map file should be made public.

That way people can still love and cherish their builds on SSP.

I agree with alot of this. Personally if I was allowed to keep all of my stuff and a few realms that mean alot to me personally (like my starter nub realms at home) then It would still be MineRealm to me.

We veterans have had our time. We had a fairly clean map to exploit and gain resources from. Anyone trying to join the server now however, faces a huge challenge. Granted most new players are impulsive and only want to jump straight in without doing much work, but having a clean map for them to exploit is only fair.

I'm totally with deel here. The Island is an iconic land mass of both private and public realms. Sadly I am unable to claim the entirety of the beautiful mountains I live on, and a public wipe could easily ruin the mountains as a whole. On the plus side, The Island might actually become a true island, but the chances are far to small to occur without loss.
