I joined the server for half a second with the mod too many items downloaded. I didn't think it would work on the server, I left immediately and did nothing with the mod. Would anyone know how to uninstall a mod?

What I do (the easy way) is delete all mods and reinstall them. To do this, you open Minecraft in the login page from the launcher. Then, click "Options". You should see a box saying "Force Update!", click that too. Note that this will delete all your installed mods. Lastly, reinstall your mods. This, I believe is the easy way on deleting mods. It is not very useful if you only want to delete one mod, but it is useful if you want to delete all mods.

Too Many Items will not work on the server. Even if you can see the interface for the mod, it will not do actually work as it is a single-player only mod.

While you're right that it won't work, it does work with Multiplayer, but not unless you have the permissions to spawn items in.

While TMI is not usable on multiplayer servers that you do not have OP in, in order to uninstall any other mods:
1. Open the start menu.
2. In the search bar type in "run".
3. In "run" type "%appdata%".
4. Open ".minecraft".
5. Open the folder called "mods".
6. Create a new folder in the "mods" folder called something like "Disable".
7. Move all the folders into the new folder.
This should disable any mods you have installed. If that doesn't work, simply delete the bin folder and it will re-install a fresh, new version of the game.

While you're unistalling bad mods i would recommend installing shaddowcraft (which is a collection of allowed mods)
