Right. The staff would likely prevent you from doing so.

The amount of lag it produces should be fairly minimal, once it is build there is no redstone active for the Iron Trench itself, so only 24 villagers and upto 8 golems at any time. Dropped items go into hoppers, which use minimal redstone for an item sorter, item elevators and silos.

I got the land to build it so ima give it a try maybe go for 2 towers
