I am far from a playstation user but let's take these main facts into consideration on why people are flocking to PS4 over Xbox -
Used Games - Simple enough they have no restrictions on them, and game developers will probably be more strict on allowing it seeing as they are trying to go the pc route
The main issue with this is it's the exact reason why people bought consoles over pc games. You could rent/borrow them from friends, you didn't have to dish out $60 on a unfinished broken games(which seems to be all games lately) and finish them in a few hours since the stories are getting shorter and shorter. Console ports to pc are also imo why piracy is so high, if they didn't release crappy quality games for pc more people would purchase them, not to mention they are littered with bugs.
Backwards Compatability - Xbox's excuse has always been it cost more money to do such a thing, well PS4 is cheaper than the PS3 was at launch and has it so.... What's the excuse now?
Cross Platform Gaming/Exclusives - Again another feature PS has been dominate in, which is funny since you figure Xbox would be better suited as it's Microsoft, but yet the PS has all the cross platforming pretty much wrapped up and includes many games I play atm ex. Warframe, War Thunder, Blacklight
Xbox Live's 24 Hour Check-up - One of the biggest drawbacks is this main feature, not everyone has internet and to say they do is ridiculous, having to sign-on every 24 hours just to play offline ect is a bit extreme and not a good focus on a system. "Offline gaming is not possible after these prescribed times until you re-establish a connection, but you can still watch live TV and enjoy Blu-ray and DVD movies."
Region Locking - Just recently PS has announced the PS4 will not be region locked like the Xbox, which is another big feature people were focused on, pushing PS4 more over to it's favor.
Launch Price - This one is iffy, I mean yeah the PS4 is touting it is $100 cheaper over the Xbox but when you look into it, the PS4 doesn't include the PS Eye but even still if you look the eye will only be $60 so you'd still save about $40.
Playstation Plus/XBL - I saw this fay coming and have always warned Playstation user it will happen but PS+ is now a requirement to play online like XBL. But note it is $50 a year where as Xbox is still $60.
So in short, PS4 is winning by a long shot, many Xbox users are already flocking over, with the addition of greater support for indie developers the Playstation is picking those up from xbox as well. Xbox has a bumpy road ahead unless they can dish out something better.
