Not a nether wipe at all. Just inserting ores into the current map where the would have been generated.

Then you'll be very thankful that you've found quartz ore so close to your portal, mine it, and then repair the minimal damage that the quartz ore spawn has done to your portal area.

This is a good solution. It minimises the amount of work needing to be done by Intelli and gives us quartz in the locations and quantities that would have been present if the Nether were created today in v1.5. Any other solution is likely to be more complex and require more work by Intelli, and hence will likely take longer to implement.

I don't think it would be done in such a way to cause a conflict with anything. The ore should only be inserted if the block it is replacing is netherrack.
