Download 7Zip then. It basically does the same thing.

Here are some helpful directions.

1. Press on the Start button

2. Search for: %appdata%

3. Click on the 'Roaming' folder when it shows up.

4. Click on the '.minecraft' folder when it shows up. It is usually the first folder there.

5. Next, click on the 'bin' folder. It is the first folder on the top of the list when you open '.minecraft' .

6. Now, there is a JAR file in this folder called 'minecraft'. Right click the file. Click 'Open with...'
Open it with WinRar/WinZip/7Zip.

7. When it is opened, take a screenshot. After that, look for the folder called 'META-INF' just to be sure.
If it's there, your clear.

You were never in the bin folder.

In your .minecraft folder you will find the bin folder. Go into that bin folder. XD

It isn't too bad though. Just go into your bin folder and find 'minecraft' JAR File. Open this with WinZip/whatever and place a screenshot showing the META-INF folder in the JAR File.

That's notepad, not 7zip.
