Basically, this is how it went. Me and Ryu have been running a diamond and newb player trafficking business since time began, where we traffick newbies to others who are willing to pay large sums of money, as well as casually sell diamonds. Ryu decided he wanted out. I decided I wanted him banned.

I kid, of course. However, I really would like to know how they would change what the blocks appear to be to the client without changing what the block actually is. If you understand what I am saying.

The server knows where all the ores are and doesn't give this data to the client. When it decides that an ore should actually be visible to the player or not (i.e. exposed to air or not), it actually changes what the block actually is, changing it from stone to ore or vice versa. It actually changes the block. It doesn't tell the client, "there is an ore here, but it's hidden."
