I still like the idea of having the wilderness be its own world. But we should just wait to see what Intelli has worked out. I don't mind not having quartz for a while. We went a long while without jungles, anyway.

If the nether expansion is larger than 250 blocks, then I would say yes, pvp should be enabled. But if it is 250 as would be the case if it matched the overworld, then it would be literally impossible to mine in that area. In the overworld while mining for emeralds, you can hide yourself and your base/mine pretty well because 10,000x2,000 is a pretty good sized area. But 1,250x250 is too small an area to have pvp going on if you hope to get anything accomplished.

I also fear that with PVP on, there will be much more unwanted PVP and logging, and many more ban requests.

See I wouldn't mind the nether being wiped if my guild didn't have a nether fort directly hooked up to its portal . I just made the grinder really nice too... One the other hand the nether is totally trashed. The nether spawn is bland, and grief edge is everywhere.If Intelli wipes the nether, he should make a week where pvp in the nether is disabled. This would give everyone enough time to gather their resources that they have placed.

I say we wipe the entire nether! There is grief edge everywhere anyways... If we don't wipe it there should be a completely separate nether in the wilderness.

Just wipe the nether and nothing of value was lost, and you can mine wherever you want.

EDIT: Actually wait until 1.5.1 or something to do it though, because there will likely be embarrassing terrain generation bugs.
