Yeah, it's pretty time consuming, at least the first time. But if you get a little experience and approach it systematically, it really isn't all that difficult. The only had part becomes draining rooms.

Now that public realm resets are out of way, I shall now provide my opinion that is pertinent to the general topic.

In the very title of your thread, you pose a problem. That problem, which I agree is severe, is that the current map appears messy. Assuming that you are basing the existence of this problem as part of your logical argument to expand the map, I shall say this: Expanding the current map will not assist the solving of said problem.

Yeah. The new land will end up looking just as bad as the current public land that's in bad shape if we're forever unwilling to do anything about it.

However, if no one is going to clean up the public land, isn't expanding the map and prolonging its life better than doing nothing at all. Yes it will just drag out the problem, but it will last a lot longer.

Th title is there to propose the problem, the map IS a mess, and the post simply has a few ideas that have been put forth to solve the problem and I'm happy that people have other ideas.

1. The limited map space is part of what makes MineRealm what it is. You can find unlimited building space on nearly any other server. Having to actually work towards getting a decent area is part of what makes the server appealing. Plus, there's tons of free land, at least where I am. You just need to look around. Sure, there may be small wooden huts to be found in nearly any part of the map. However, this hardly counts as the map being entirely used up.

2. New players are too lazy to walk out to the edges of our current map as it is. Expanding the current map would make absolutely no difference for 99% of the new players. Unless of course, we made it so players could teleport into this extended area. I'm opposed against this though (for the same reason we don't allow teleporting into the wilderness)

3. What happens when biomes change again or something, and you guys start asking for further extensions? We'd have a massive blob of land that no one wants to live on.

4. Based on wilderness usage, I don't see this extension actually being used by any decent number of players.

In regards to arguments in the thread about needing resets/extensions for new features implemented in the game, that's what the wilderness is for. The wilderness is a reset zone, although the exact behavior of how that's going to work is still TBD.

Oh, also, if you want to live all by yourself with no other players around, you should be playing on single player. The point of multiplayer is to interact with other players. And yes, this means that you might have other players living near you. The horror!

This. I hear all these complaints about there not being enough unused land, but all you have to do is go to the border. That's where I live. There's tons of unused land around me, natural landscape, plenty of resources, and I even figured out how to find areas underneath that haven't been mined out. I see no reason we need to expand. We aren't even utilizing the current map well.

I live on the border too, TONS of land.

And 1. on Intelli's post is sorta what I was thinking about the whole time. There might actually be a little bit of a "market" for someone with credits that has time to do it. Go out and be a land baron. Find a nice plot of 3x3 or 5x5 or 10x10 rehab the surface, and sell to someone wanting to build a "grand city"

Either way, there have got to be some creative solutions we can exhaust first before we get drastic and expand the map.

Might be interesting to see how close we are to hitting that 40k cap.

People forget how truly big the map is.
If all of minerealm is a dollar, all of the owned realms added together are just a nickel and a penny... Just let that sink in when you say there's "no room left".
