I agree with Flanny here on that Intelli did not give out his contact details willingly to Minerealm's populace. The most he gives out is his name (which I shall not mention because that is sort of infringement of privacy). There are, however, ways and means of collecting information on individuals, and if the attacker has his name it helps the attacker a great deal in finding the rest of the information. The IP of the server, in which the host keeps the file running 24/7, can be found in about 5 seconds.

This is, of course, assuming he has a host that holds his files, and not a machine of his own that runs the file. However, seeing as he needs donations to keep the server running, I would believe this assumption is correct.

I will not comment on how this could theoretically be done, because I genuinely don't know the boundary that staff would find acceptable in terms of talking about illegal activities.

That being said, I will not comment on whether I believe Shockwave's story or Flan's story because I was not there to witness this incident. However, in either way I think Shockwave should be accepted back into the community.

I'm also personally appalled by what some players did.

Think about how you would feel if your privacy was violated in that way. Most of you are minors. As a parent I can tell you, I would be very concerned. To my knowledge, Intelli is not a minor, but he still has the right to privacy and security for him and his family. I have not always been in agreement with the way he has handled things on the server, but I am grateful to him for providing it and for all the work he puts into it.

This is something only Intelli can decide to forgive or not. And whether Shock did it or not, it should be easy to see why Intelli would be skeptical and cautious. I've made this analogy before, this is Intelli's house, even if someone does not break the rules of the game, if they disrespect him, he has every right not to allow them back into his house. Wouldn't you feel you had that right if it were your house? What we do on the server is play a game, but we are all real people, even Intelli.

To me, this doesn't even really belong on the ban appeal thread, but should be at least at first, a personal (pm) conversation between Shock and Intelli, because this is truly a case where what we think doesn't mean a thing.

I wasn't there when they called Intelli the first time. I was not even apart of the attack, I only came on later and caught the end of their shenanigans. It all comes down to bad choice of friends really. The only time I have been in trouble is when my stupid friends do stuff, I guess I just don't know when to walk away. Jen, I was thinking about PMing Intelli, but he doesn't have time for this. This appeal has been stressing me out.

EDIT: Some of NTC thought it would be funny to harass Intelli IRL. They doxed him and found his phone number, then called him, pretending to be friends of his from highschool. Shocky was somehow in on this with the rest of NTC, but exactly how isn't clear. Only Intelli and Shock know the complete story. Anyway, Intelli figured out who they were and banned pretty much everyone in NTC, changing the server forever.
