Your banned why does it really matter if all of the pvp section will probally be about something in-game

People who don't go on the server still choose to read the forums, as do potential new players trying to see what the server's really like - it doesn't make the server look great when every other topic is some sort of argument, usually involving the same people.

I think what you're suggesting isn't actually a PvP section, but just a section for people to argue and fight in. No one here has talked about the use of the PvP section as a section to discuss PvP in. Also, I think that the state of constant flaming and arguments can be stopped with the application of stricter rules on it. An insta, one-day forum ban ban for those who flame and dis-rail threads which increases by a day every time you are banned for it would quickly deter people from flaming and responding to those who are flaming.

It's a discussion. You're (minus Cube) simply choosing to react in an aggressive manor and therefore are stopping any chance of discussion about the topic at hand. You ask for opinions so you get opinions.

Look, this thread is going to receive backlash. It's inevitable. Instead of arguing with the opposition, why not instead, try to convince them of why this would be good by providing examples of how this would help the problems that the opposition have listed?

Just trust me on this one, Dil. I'm 90% sure it'll work.

One thing I have learned about persuasive essay writing is that one must counter the objections by answering any possible doubts, concerns, and questions that they have that are preventing them from agreeing. Look at my suggestion for the swear filter for an example. I answered all doubts and thought ahead and answered any possible questions that might come up BEFORE the questions were even asked!

Well, then staff would have to deal with handing out all of the bans, then dealing with forum ban appeals, and if it's a temporary forum ban, they would have to remember to unban several players. One simple solution versus a lot of extra, unnecessary work...

People generally don't appeal forum bans as they are stated as temporary when someone tries to log in on the banned account.

I'd say it's harder for staff to have to moderate a whole section which I do not doubt will just be flaming and lock threads than just hand out forum bans. I've used this forum software before and banning someone on the forums is incredibly easy. Click on their profile, head to the banning section, choose a ban time if the ban is temporary, click ok.

The "unnecessary" thing is the creation of a new forum subsection where the normal rules are ignored for the benefit of those who seem to have difficulty following the rules in the current forum. It's not a horribly bad idea, but it just isn't needed--if players cause problems, the normal enforcement of the current rules will deal with those problems easily enough.

Break rules = get banned.

Break rules in a particularly severe way, or break rules repeatedly after being given additional chances to shape up = get permabanned.
