Back in October, Intelli implemented item de-spawning. This de-spawns item drop entities until there are just 100 and it does this on a per realm basis. This didn't pan out well for auto crop harvesters, harvesting 500 crops at a time. And this is why I'm suggesting the limit be removed - for some auto harvester designs, farming is not as efficient as in vanilla minecraft.

I want this suggestion to have a slight exception from the current crowd sourcing method of server development. This is because we, the community, do not actually know what removing the item limit means for server performance. We don't know if it makes a difference in lag or how hard the server might be working. Only the staff have this information. Therefore, the poll results coming solely from the community, should not decide this suggestion's fate. The poll is more of a "Do you have a problem with the item limit?".

For Intelli, how does server performance differ between there being a limit and there not being a limit? Could it be plausible to raise the limit to 1,000 or remove it entirely?

I don't currently have a problem, except for when I have to break a chest. Come to think of it, that's a problem. That, and my soon-to-be-constructed auto farms. IDK how server performance, but it would really suck to break a double-chest and have my stuff disappear.

+1, whatever that means in this situation.

Breaking a chest should not involve item despawning. Entities in chests or close to eachother on the ground are grouped as stacks, meaning 100 different stacks of 64 would have to be dropped to trigger the limit. Since chests have 27 slots, breaking them one at a time is completely safe.

Switched to a "No" vote.

Remember, as eah said,

So this is more about whether you personally have a problem with it. I don't know whether it should be removed. I'm leaning toward yes, in fact. But I voted "No" to show that I, personally, don't have any problems with it.

Or alteast higher it. Yes neaby items stack but a huge farm will have over 100 stacked groups of wheat/seeds. I had a wheat farm that worked great. I haven't used it since he added the item thingy because, well it sucks now +1

Let me translate those options for you.

Yes:
I have no idea why this is in place, and am an uniformed voter who probably shouldn't give input on this.
I have some absurdly large thing which drops more than 6400 items at a go, and would rather have the convenience of this operating as-is than a significant reduction in server lag.
I want to open up an avenue of significant lag creation.

No:
I understand that a sufficient number of items, either in one place or across the server, will cause lag, which can greatly worsen the playing experience on this wonderful server. Having an already decently generous cap prevents this from happening, and helps control lag.

As a side note, I would be fine with an INCREASE in the item limit, but that is not this suggestion.
