To clarify, you're saying that endstone is the only block that should be protected from breakage in the End, while other block types (placed by players) can still be removed as usual, correct? If so, that sounds like a great approach to the problem.

I feel that all this concern about the endstone has to do with greed... FYI, there could be 200 to 300 large chests of endstone in there. There's no reason to say all that endstone will end up in the hands of hoarders.

I don't understand the concern about the end becoming completely absent of endston either. The end won't look like the end anymore, but the nether is the same way. Newbs go in expecting to find glowstone, but come out empty-handed.

The difference is that unless it's carefully replaced with other materials, end stone is actually necessary to being able to explore the End. Unlike the nether, where you at least have bedrock to stand on if the most common block (netherrack) were to be completely depleted, an endstone-free End would create the risk of falling into the void upon entering.

I'd just like to add that, although MineRealm is a server with a sophisticated economy, we also have to remember the reason people buy blocks like endstone (other than bragging rights): to build stuff. Without endstone to build with, people's creations are limited. I do, however see the problem, both with end griefage and the endstone market collapsing. Of course, I think having a griefed end is better than having an end no one ever even sees because going in means death. Nonetheless, I see that Sneaker's suggestion would be an excellent compromise, with the only issue being that endstone could not be built with, which could be addressed at a different time.

p.s. See, people in Vortex can think too! [/randomness]

My simple views on it:

The end is already not working as intended in minecraft. Killing the ender dragon is supposed to spawn a portal out, but here our ender dragon got despawned instead of killed.

So, the way I see it there are 3 good options for making an exit from the end:

1. Another dragon could be spawned, so that it could be killed to complete the objective normally. Spawning another one in this situation would essentially be legit, as it's just fixing something that was unintended in the first place, and ultimately ends up in line with how it was designed.

2. The exit portal that would otherwise be spawned by the dragon's death could be created directly by Intelli.

3. The nether portal-style exit that Intelli had set up temporarily after the despawning incident could be remade.

Wasn't aware of that... this changes quite a bit with regard to the suggestion. Was the despawning intentional on the staff's part? If so, then their reasons for trying to prevent the exit portal from spawning should probably be taken into consideration here. If not, then this suggestion becomes a bit of a no-brainer--it would restore functionality which the staff didn't even try to get rid of in the first place.

P.S. Good to hear from you again--it's been a while.
