So, recent auctions and sale of enchantments and enchanted items have made me wonder about how the playerbase as whole goes about getting their magic item fix. Prices have dropped, at least in what I'm seeing, and it SEEMS like enchanting is much more prevalent with the revamp of the system, but I'd like to see what you guys are actually doing. Slake my curiosity!

Anyways, this is a topic I find quite interesting. If most people do their own, then how come prices have barely decreased since 1.3? I see people paying 8k for a good sword/bow. That took 10 minutes to get, plus some luck. But the thing is, even with the luckiest enchant in the world, why should you be able to make almost enough to buy a realm in a matter of minutes? It perplexes me.

Jack, I'm curious where you see those prices. I'm generally seeing even quite good items down around 5-7.5k, down from 7.5-12.5k, very rough guesstimate.

Currently, I do all my own enchanting, and generally only bother enchanting picks (I don't need anything more than very basic enchants on weapons/armor, as I'm not a PVPer). However...

Yeah, I saw that too... Feels a bit silly really, mojang made it enchanting easier, then slightly harder. :/

Sorry I couldn't respond faster Ael, I looked away from my comp for a bit, then I took a quick run (PR btw). Anyways, I'm back to answer the question.

Here are my believed prices based on what I see in the market:

Unbreaking enchantment:
Level 1- +75rc value
Level 2- +400rc value
Level 3- +700 value

Efficiency enchantment:
Level 1- +50rc value
Level 2- +200rc value
Level 3- +500rc value
Level 4- +700rc value

Silk touch: +800rc in value

Fortune enchantment:
Level 1- +100rc in value
Level 2- +300rc in value
Level 3- +900rc in value

Sharpness enchantment:
Level 1- +50rc in value
Level 2- +400rc in value
Level 3- +1,500 in value
Level 4- +2,300 in value

Knock back: Around 500 additional credits

Fire: Around 1,000 additional credits

(If sharpness 4 and fire 2 are together, add 700 credits. If knockback 2 is also there, make it +1,000)

Bows: Apply logic to pricing. Then double the logical price.

That's what I see going on. This is a chart made in 10 minutes. It's as accurate as I could make it while setting a time lint on creating it.

I think the 8k plus comes from credit inflation (anybody seen that going on recently?!) plus the fact that people believe they are invincible with perfect items.

Get my point? People pay too much for pvp gear if it's the best possible. The prices decreases BY HALF if the sharpness is 3 instead of 4, or it's fire aspect 1 instead of two,...

I very rarely die in game, like.... exceptionally rarely...

Normally my levels just build up while I mine or kill monsters. Generally I just enchant something when I get to 30 (Pretty much only picks, as its possible to make a hefty profit with eff 4 unbreaking 3).

So whenever I'm really desperate for a pick, ill try and buy an unbreaking 3 for less than 2k, because you will make a profit on these, but normally I have the levels to enchant myself.

So put simply, I enchant whenever I can, but I very rarely grind for the levels.
