Many years in the future, mankind had a great war, of which almost every human was wiped out. Most humans, however, did not die, but were turned into beastly animals, monsters even, of the night. This is comparable to the zombie apocalypse, however almost every structure, had been destroyed. Very rarely, can you find a structure, that was ancient. However there were some, which were buried deep in artificial caves near the surface of the mantle.
Those who did survive, quickly forgot the conventions of previous life, and within three generations had gone back close to the age of tribes, separated from each other distinct.
Many humans, in order to evade the war, put themselves in incubation chambers, impenetrable, for hundreds of years. They would wake up only when the chambers had degraded so much that they could not protect the individual.
I was one of them, I woke up in the beta age, or for some people, premature activation. I found myself in a world, where I was safe by day, but in danger by night. I build a modest house, a mansion, then a cathedral. I explored my areas finding these gentle barbarian villagers. I called them Ebloters, but now there is a more widely used name for them. For months I lived happily, quietly in my castle. I started to explore, I discovered the deep caves of the mantle and the fortresses that they held captive. But there were creatures there, terrible creatures, that were one third man, one third pig, one third zombie. There were floating jellyfish, that shot fireballs at you. I managed to seek refuge, and returned to the surface.
One day, one of those slender, 10 foot tall creatures tore into my house. Zombies broke down the doors, giant spiders climbed the walls, and them I was face to face with those creatures, that when threatened, explode. It is a crude, and quite useless tactic, I think, but rumor has it that it is for the species protection. One for one sacrifice.
I was evaded from my house, and walked. I walked for weeks, them came upon a little town with people like me! They said I had entered the city of Abyssus. Here, I built a new fortress, and then overhauled it, to make a tower of great proportions. I named it after the city I lived in, the "Abyssus Tower". In fact, Abyssus was one of many cities, including Roanoke, Exodus and Trinity. I had entered the large district, by the name of Minerealm, with thousands of people, just like me in it.
But then everything changed. They called it a re-formation, I called it a mutilation. All land that was not owned by people was changed, and huge, ugly masses of water flooded Abyssus. This was known as the great shift into the 4.0 phase. Recently, I have been expanding in Abyssus, slowly buying more land, acquiring more resources. One day, I may have enough to recrute people, to form a faction, of Southern Abyssus.
