I have a few points to make:
anti-grief:
I am happy that an anti-grief plugin is going to be put in. One idea I have is from a Minecraft Classic server I was on a long time ago. The black is what you type, the red is what comes up. All names are made up:
> /block who
> destroy or place a block.
(places random block)
> destroyed: MaxXyXx, placed: MaxXyXx, destroyed: Imagriefer
In this, MaxXyXx found a block in the wildy, destroyed it, then built another block where it used to be. Imagriefer then destroyed the block that MaxXyXx placed. Obviously Imagriefer is the griefer in this case. This is used to show who destroyed what, and could be easily used to prove who griefed what. I have no idea how much coding this would take, or how much it would lag the server, I'm just throwing the idea out.
PvP and creating a PvP zone:
> /pvp area create LBG Arena
> place two blocks.
(places two blocks to define the rectangular prism which will be the invisible pvp barrier)
> PvP area 'LBG Arena' created.
Then, if they wanted to disband, they could use:
> /pvp area disband LBG Arena
Obviously the creator would have to be the one who destroys it, or an admin/mod. Remember, two blocks is all it takes to define the dimensions for a rectangular prism.
As for realms, and cities in general:
I have a mixed view on realms. In one hand, they create a safe and easy building environment. On the other hand, they discourage adventuring, and looking at other people's creations. People are chained to their realms in a sense, and they rarely go out and explore the world. IF we did not have realms, there would be a lot of griefing. But, with the anti-grief system I talked about, this could easily be fixed with a plugin that allows mods/admins to undo all actions made by a player, thus undoing the griefing. Realms should not (if they are kept) allow changes to visitor options. It is a huge pain to try to go ANYWHERE when there are a billion no visitor realms in the way. Like I said, it discourages adventuring and travelling.
Disable tnt. It can be handy in situations, but they may as well call it the 'griefer box', because that's basically all people use it for. It allows for massive griefing to occur withing mere seconds, and would be hard to record with the anti-griefing system I mentioned earlier.
I don't know exactly what to do with the buckets, They can be good, or they can be bad. No comment about that.
Hiding chests is a huge issue. I am not exactly sure what to do about that. Without realms, people would have to constantly hide their chests, and hiding a massive collection of items is no easy task. I do believe something should be put in to protect mass stealing. One way to protect this would be to only record who went into the chest last, so if someone went into the chest, someone else could type /chest who, then right-click on the chest, and it would show who went into the chest last. That would make it so that the system would not have to record all that massive piles of data. This could also work with the anti-grief system, makiing it so that whoever destroyed/placed a block last would be the only one who shows up on the message, and thus making it so recorded data would not clutter up the server too much.
That's all I have for now. Thanks for your time, and I congratulate you if you made it through the whole wall of text.
I feel like I'm whispering...
