That's a good summary, yes Discord is one the second series antagonists. He is the spirit of disharmony and god of chaos, a rival to Princess Celestia representing the antithesis of the elements of harmony.
Discord is very much like Loki from Norse Mythology, the Joker from Batman or Q for Star Trek Next Generation (Discord is voiced by the same actor, John De Lancie).
In series he is a very powerful manipulator and illusionist being able to distort reality and manipulate thos around him for his own amusement. Whilst smart and fond of playing games, he is arrogant and easily bored.

Perhaps you have been likened to him because of your playful nature, sense of wit and intelligence?
Or maybe you just want to watch the world burn? ^^
