Hi. It has come to my attention that a reasonable number of discussions get closed by someone with a right to lock it, when the discussion isn't necessarilly finished. I find this not only annoying, but also quite rude and I am basing this on a very recent experience on this forum. Under the bans section a player 'BoneJunky' posted a ban request for another player. It angers me to see that the mods ended the investigation even though, in my opinion a fair amount of evidence (four screenshots) had been posted in his favour. I spent a good deal of time studying the discussion between mods and 'Bonejunky' as well as his evidence and came to realise that many important pieces of information went unnoticed. After about only seventeen exchanges between 'Bonejunky' and the skeptical players, the discussion was locked by a mod; yet much more information could have been extracted from the screenshots than was origionally found. In response, I posted my own topic regarding the new found points using rational thought and careful examination of the images provided. What I discovered heavily supported 'Bonejunky's' claims. I proceeded to write a four part conclusion presention each of my points in a polite and clear way. One would have thought this would be enough for someone to take it seriously. However, after only speaking to a mod a couple of times on the topic, he locked it claiming that the case was closed before and no more needs to be said about it.

I believe this is a totally absurd approach by somebody who ought to know better. I will just use an analogy here: Hypothetically speaking, if a man was to be murdered in April 1996 say, and during the police investigation a piece of evidence is overlooked, nothing might happen for many years. Lets say the case is unsolved and is closed after a number of years, with nobody getting the justice they deserve. However eight years later a new piece of information is gathered from the evidence (e.g. If DNA analysis techniques just took a leap forward), would the police dismiss the investigation because it had been deemed unsolvable before? No is the answer. It is not fair. It is not right. It should not happen. And this is why I believe two major problems needs to be addressed regarding this forum.

(1) Topic Locking - I feel it is far too easy for a mod to lock a thread when they are getting bored of the discussion, which is failing the happiness of players. I think some restrictions need to be in place to prevent them abusing their power, perhaps a voting system could be implemented to allow users to vote whether a topic should be locked or not. This is a much better representation of a situation, although it has it's negative impacts too.

I completely agree with you. Even if a topic is closed, there is no need to lock it. People can still talk about it, and discuss it. I don't think mods should be so quick to act. Currently, they are locking every topic that they think is dying or doesn't 'need' any more talk about it. Even if there doesn't need to be any more talk, why can't there be?

Oh FFS. I tried to ignore you since you seemed to be intelligent, or at least put up a convincing facade, but I'm tired of this shit.
1) Edit Button. Push it. There is no excuse to ever post 2 things in a row without someone replying.
2) Blah blah blah some bloody diatribe that everyone is aware is your clever way of attempting to bitch because one of your topics was locked. Cry me a freaking river.
3) You won't change anything. Deal with it or leave.
4) There is no 4.

(2) The other major problem is Evidence. At the moment to get somebody banned for breaking a large proportion of rules, a ridiculously large amount of evidence needs to be gathered and presented. I cannot believe the mods expect players to take screenshots, record videos and ask for help - while trying to defend themselves against another player that is attacking them, or stealing their items, or griefing their buildings etc. The last thing I would be thinking about when I am being attacked by some invisible hacker, with infinite lava, diamond armour, xray vision and fly mod is opening up FRAPS and making a horror film depicting a minecraft character with your name being pwned, teabagged and looted; while in the background his hacker buddies are destroying your creations. Wow. You have some evidence - but you now do not have anything worth staying on the server for. It seems that the mods favour the rule breakers in every case of the victimisation of normal players.

I understand they like the 'innocent until proven guilty' argument. Yet when it is blatently obvious someone is guilty of doing something, by all means be skeptical of any evidence given, but also be leanient in recognising that at the time someone is being confronted with a rule breaker; they are not going to be experiencing the most logical of thought patterns. Allow for some room where logic and reason can fill the gap any evidence may leave; you are not fools and can see if there is a screenshot of someone flying toward another player, wielding TNT and shouting 'DIEEEEE' they are guilty as charged. But a mod will not ban them if they replied 'I was falling off a mob tower where I was making TNT and I was referring to a sheep when I said 'Die' '

btw the mods don't lock it. Only forum mods do.
Yet when it is blatently obvious someone is guilty of doing something
You have no clue how easy it is to make someone look like they did it.

Sorry about all these new posts but my scroller won't let me type past a certain point in the text box. I don't know why this is and I have to keep making new posts to be able to reply. Honestly, editing doesn't work for me, it is annoying for me too.

4) There is no 4.
1) Making multiple posts is a way to split up your long talks into smaller, more easily readable points. I know many (me being one) people who don't like reading very long posts. Even if it is a long post is split into multiple smaller posts, I would rather read that then a long one.

2) His topic was locked with very little discussion. That is kind of rude and doesn't need to happen. We can very easily let a thread die on its own, instead of forcing it.

3) What do you think this thread is about? He's trying to get people to think about this, and possibly cause change.

4) I noticed.

But also, LordRamuthra, that ridiculous amount of evidence is put into action so that no wrongdoings are left alone, and innocent people don't have to continuously think that they might be the next banned. I do believe that this amount of evidence is good so that players have a fair 'trial' (or whatever) instead of one based on hunches and opinions.
