If you are going to do this, at least lay down some ground rules. For instance: no arrows (arrows are cheap as hell)

I have tons of arrows. I just don't use them because its more fun to sneak up on someone and use actual PvP skill in a fight. I'm just saying that someone entrenching themselves in a bunker with an arrow turret is cheap.

I don't quite understand why you are trying to imply that fighting with arrows is something that doesn't require skill. If they are used properly, sniping is a very valuable pvp skill. Banning archery will just mean that all fights will be brawls that require no tactical forethought.

Nothing is banned. If they bunker them selfs just TNT them! PVP is off for the time being so people can work.

All i see here is a desperate plea for me to go add in a ton of sniper nests all over the place to ensure all you knuckle-dragging sword swingers get thoroughly stomped by the most elegant and refined art of archery, wielded by those clever enough to use ambush and ranged weaponry.

I've ventured onto a PVP Minecraft server which had something of a PVP castle...

It was a mighty fortress of at-least 200 by 200 blocks.
With no block protection.

Groups of player would defend the castle, and see how long they could hold it
before another mob of war mongering players decide it fit that the castle should be theirs.

They would repair if needed.

This most likely wouldn't work well for us.. since their server disabled /set home, and /warps.
This made treks to enemy fortresses more exciting..
