An auctioneer MAY reject bids from a particular player, but if they're rejecting an unusually large number of bids, they need to have a very good reason why. Otherwise, they can expect to be forced to sell. If they want to have a reserve, they need to post that fact in the initial auction post. Ideally, they also tell that number to an impartial third party, to avoid shenanigans.
According to the actual auction rules topic this isn't actually listed ael, the only mention of it is when you suggested it which had no reply from any admin on the thread... If this was agreed to then maybe the admins should state it on the thread or create a new one if Lm's initial post cant be edited.

Wow seriously Keve? -_- The host/seller doesn't have to sell the items off to the highest bidder, let alone accept any offers made that they aren't satisfied with. He has all rights to them till a deal is made, which means if he/she doesn't want them gone just yet or they found a use for them. They don't have to sell them off. They shouldn't be forced to part with them once they put them up for sell/auction. Would cause those who want to make a profit to be picky in what they want to sell off cause they are being forced to sell them or be banned. Which means lots of other problems if what you are saying was implimented as a rule.

Now saying this, just cause it happened to you twice doesn't mean you should go full steam ahead and make it a rule. If it happens to the majority of the community, and a mod of teh forums did a poll like yours. I would greatly understand. But just cause you like the items andyou made the highest bid, but got sad because of the seller found better use for the goods or some other reason. Doesn't mean you have to go overboard with it.

When you place a bid on an auction, you are basically reserving that amount of credits. You assume that you will have to have those credits at some point in the future or you risk a ban. The buyer, essentially must carry on with their side of the deal even before the transaction is made. The bidder does not know whether the auctioneer will actually carry out the deal, and so must reserve the credits anyway.

Now take this scenario. The bidder is given a great deal on something (say a stack of diamonds for 4k) outside of the auction. However, he can't take the deal because he has those credits reserved for his bid. If the auctioneer chooses to end the auction and ignore all bids, then the bidder has just lucked out on an awesome deal. I think we all would be very angry. A bid is a guarantee that you will pay those credits to the auctioneer in exchange for the item(s) auctioned unless someone bids over you.

This rule is necessary to make the sacrifice even. The bidder reserves credits. Thus, the seller must reserve the items at the moment the auction is created, like agent said. If it's not a rule already, it should be made one.

THIS IS ALREADY A RULE

Please stop posting in this thread, all it does it beat a dead horse at this point. This thread is useless, as
THIS IS ALREADY A RULE . This was stated by Aelcalan on the first page.

Persoanlly, I think this thread should be locked, to keep it from constantly popping up on the front page, and thus causing it to have more useless posts heaped upon its rotting carcass.

Oh, and in case you missed it the first two times... THIS IS ALREADY A RULE

Ok this topic has basically come about from this topic

http://minerealm.com/community/viewtopi ... 9&start=10

Its an unresolved ban request as things stand as far as i can tell... If it's against the rules to withdraw auctions it needs to be resolved...

As i said in my previous post this needs to be officially stated in the auction rules as it currently just exists as a suggestion from Aelcalan. Once this is stated as an official rule in the auction rules topic by an admin the arguments cease to exist. I just hope it happens soon before this thread ends up as a massive flame war

As stated in the last three posts in that link. MrKeveCool decided to drop the request. As for the rules it was recently updated so that we are forced to sell off the goods to the highest bidder. This new rule most likely wilbe applied to all current and future auctions.
