Yes, an adapted version of this would make an excellent feature of Minerealm 5.0, almost completely regardless of what the new system's exact mechanics will be. Personally, I'd be severely disappointed if an entirely new Minerealm survival server was made and given the game.minerealm.com address without a few features like this to make it obviously superior to our current one.
Well...it will have the new biomes and mobs (HOPEFULLY) so I would say that its already superior to the current map. But Srsly, I like this idea, it's just that, well, it seems so unlikely to be implemented. Still, earlier posts said that it has NO chance. I think thats a little harsh. If it's sufficiently interesting, and if it's EXTREMELY well thought out, I think it could make it. +1 for potential, and also for it being so full of USEFULL criticism. There is so little of that these days...

I don't know if Intelli has thrown the ideas of keeping the game mechanics the same out of the window, if not this won't go though.
Anyway, teleporting items instantly across the map doesn't seem that vanilla.

Also, even though there is a poll. If it does win it won't mean anything.
1.3 update = enderchests which allow access from anywhere, not quite sure how they will work in multiplayer with the potential for thousands of them but they basically do this job in the most vanilla way possible

It would be nice if Intelli or someone would comment, so this doesn't turn into a year-long discussion/issue/argument/flame-war/troll-fest....

Also, the idea seems promising, but it seems to be best if people have to actually re-stock the chests, items don't appear from nowhere. they are dropped out of a chest when someone right-clicks the sign, they go from the player's inventory to the chest when someone left-clicks the sign, the tax still applies, no items appear, and

This would also make cities MUCH MUCH MUCH more viable, as players would buy from local merchants, and could set-up shops to gain revenue by selling items.

In terms of griefers/exploiters/hackers, they don't get anything from this, anyone stupid enough to sell items for less than they buy them for just goes out of business.

In terms of the 1% getting richer, chest shops will inevitably do that. The question is: is this really a bad thing? In the history of Minerealm, when has the economy been strongest, when have people, in general, been buying and selling, right after the beta 1.5-ish update chaos, when tonnes of realms were deleted by the server? no, during the times when Minerealm has had strong, solid nations, when people could actually buy things cheap.

also, it makes spawn realms very powerful, but it also makes realms 2000 blocks out useful in a city, bringing the community together into tribes and cities, instead of just the main spawn city group (people with LOTS of credits), and the server-survival-single-player group, most towns in minerealm are stagnant-as-can be, much worse than 2.0, everything right now is basically built around spawn, which is full, no newbie players can get into a spawn-realm, and all other cities just stagnate.

Look at Terranobyl, Hydrosys, etc. They all added to the community, something interesting was often happening, the LBG tournaments, etc. When was the last time anyone here did a major tournament for PvP, LBG, Spleef, etc.

back when there was space to do things, which was provided by cities, and a few extraordinary individuals who ran those cities, people gathered at places other than spawn, now, no city members ever do things in their cities, they build on their property, and then the cities sit there, they don't grow because of the fact that new people aren't often accepted.

Another problem is the current realm system, while it is brilliant for some things, like having large, non-connected or non-square realms, it makes spawn turn into a giant economic district, with no sellers or buyers! who here actually relies on shops at spawn for a source of anything?

Bravo, pds. Very few people actually use shops regularly, AFAIK. I'm not voting, because I can't decide. It would definitely make the server very chololately, but it might stimulate the economy! Who knows which is more important? I'm actually leaning towards no, as it would make spawn realms even more unfair of an advantage than before--too unfair. But there's always the economy, and I miss the days when diamonds were 90rc.

TL;DR You have a very short attention span. Read it again. Or, this: It comes down to vanilla-ness vs. the economy, the two most important things in MineRealm.

It's not vanilla. Honestly I think all the servers with shops are lame and so fake. It's far more fun and more real to manually barter with players, and buy/sell items.

Also if this happened then every single realm anywhere near spawn would turn into some kind of store.

Why can this not be rejected already? It's on the tenth page. TENTH PAGE. There have been numerous posts saying "No", "Already suggested" and "You're ugly and your mum dresses you funny". Well, maybe not that last one, but still, you get my point. Rejected before, should be rejected again.
