I'm sure I'm not the only person who's noticed, but it seems that spammers have gotten into the habit necroing threads last posted to at the dawn of time. This makes me crazy. If

I propose that forum accounts with unconfirmed IGN's be limited to 1 or 2 posts per 24 hours. Hopefully this can curb spammers and maybe limit player-operated sock-puppet account noisiness as well.

Additionally, we could do with a limit to how far back someone can necro a thread from if their IGN has not been confirmed. Or simply lock threads abandoned for more than a month or 2.

You give your username, and it checks if the account has been loged in on that IP

The IGN verification had been broken for a while, and I myself hadn't retried in a while.

I've just necro'd a thread because it seemed relevant with Minerealm 5.0 in discussion, rather than rehash what has been post just thought I'd bring it back to action.

I am somewhat divided on this idea. On the one hand, I like it alot. It would do wonders to cut unconfirmed account's posts down to 2-3 a day, and would kick forums spammers in the teeth. At the same time, I can't see it shaking off the determeined spammers, which is really what the problem is anyways. Consider my opinion as a +(-)1 for now... I want to see this unfold some more though.

Incidentally, ideas involving work on the Staff's part tend to go down in flames. I'm just... saiyan.

This might be OK. The spam itself usually isn't that much of a problem, as the staff can clean it up pretty quickly. But when a spammer necros something, and an actual player fails to notice the date of the previous posts, they could bring back a thread that had died even after the spam is removed.
