Well, there's been some clamor lately about editing your posts not being possible after a while. I suggest that a "history" button be implemented, possibly admin-only, so that a user could see what posts were before edits. This way, unlimited editing could be implemented on the forums. As for coding, it's standard wiki coding, so it shouldn't be that difficult, although it might take up some extra space on Intelli's computer.

Note: this is a repost. The original thread was locked, as it was made before polls were required, and I was unable to edit the original post to add one. Oh, the irony.

Anyone got opinions on this? Also a bump. In fact, pretty much only a bump.

Bump.

This has been declined many times before, I doubt Intelli will accept it, but who knows.

It has? I've never seen such a thread before...are you sure? It wasn't declined the last time I made it, people just got busy with the Third Great Purge and forgot about it, then it got locked due to the new poll rule.

I simply believe that a thread history function would eliminate the problem that removing long-term editing was supposed to solve: that of altering evidence. Look up bbjbbj4, for instance. Almost all of his posts (which I believe were originally rants) were changed by him to "i love u guys" and "this server is so great", etc. (No offense to bbj, he's actually a great guy irl, though something of an irl troll.) Anyway, a thread history function would fix this problem, allowing unlimited editing to be reintroduced. It would also be useful in general to be able to see what was there before edits changed it.

Not rejected yet, and it has a decent amount of community support, so...bump!

The real problem with this is that phpbb does not have any native support for post history, and installing extensions that can add that functionality requires a fair amount of work. That being said, I'm pretty sure most of the staff would like to see this at some point in the future. Don't hold your breath waiting though.
