I've noticed this for a while now, and haven't thought anything of it since nothing seemed to be working improperly. Lately, however, it has peaked my interest.

I ask of you, fellow techies, what is the AUXTIN, and should I care that it's hitting temps that high? I've heard that it means almost nothing, but I wanted to verify that.

Well, a quick google search, and I've read that it's a false reading from the sensor. They, apparently, make these ridiculous temperatures whenever they can't read it correctly, and it can either be extremely high or even below the freezing point.

I've had this before. It was a result of the CPUID software attempting to read the temperature of the "AUX" temp input on my motherboard (which had no thermistor attached to it). In my case, the craziness was a result of the way it is measuring the temperature by testing the resistance of the thermistor, so an unconnected wire is infinite resistance and therefor infinite temperature. More than likely, you do not have a thermistor attached to your AUX input, or you do not have AUX temp functionality on your motherboard. If you used to see sane temperatures until recently without having made any hardware changes, an existing thermistor may have burned out with age.
