When it says xray pack, does he mean a transparent texture pack or an xray mod? The two are very very different and it should actually make a difference which one he is using.

Transparent texture pack allows you to see through solid objects into open spaces. This means you could see a cavern or dungeon underground but you could not see a vein of diamond or a chest with no open spaces next to it.

An xray mod works very differently. Instead of making certain blocks see-through, it causes certain blocks to not be rendered. This means that you can see things that have no open space next to them. To someone with an xray mod, diamond veins and completely covered chests would simply appear to be floating in mid air and perfectly visible.

It is easy to hide things from a tranparent texture pack but impossible to hide them from an xray mod.

Also, i know it says xray but most people just say xray when they mean transparent texture pack because their are ignorant. Im just asking them to specifiy, if they know.

He probably meant a transparent texture pack, since he says he's going to switch back to his "non xray pack."

Im pretty sure transparent texture packs are allowed for certain uses as some mods have used them in the past, although it could of changed since then. However looking at the rules it dosen't mention them explicitly and im not sure whether intelli would consider them a hack or a legit mod.

However, its all moot since they are not detectable unless you watch someone tunnel straight from surface to one of the your chests.

I sometimes used a Transparent pack to find caverns and stuff, so that I don't hit lava or mobs, so I'm guessing he has a transparent pack, not an x-ray pack.
