You had no business pressing the button. Period. Curiosity got the better of you, and you went the way of the cat.
I modeled the trap after one that got me. (And I lost much more valuable stuff than you)
My first thought... "Guess I shouldn't have pressed the 'Guild' button"
Did I go to the forums and cry about it? No. I manned up to my mistake.
Funny thing is, if you would have simply asked for the items back, I would have given them back to you right away, no questions asked. When you have a disagreement with your neighbors, do you file a police report before talking to them?
Instead, you come online, ordering staff on what they must do, refuse to accept responsibility for your own actions, and make up "rules" out of thin air, and send me PMs threatening to have Rokkr ban me.
I talked to Rokkr, and Traps are not mentioned anywhere in the
official rules. There is a passive mention to them in the
FAQ, under a section on Portal Camping. Rokkr agreed that the policy is not as clear as it should be, and he is rewriting the rules to make them more clear.
Even so, the lone obvious official requirement, (not your made up one) is
"Traps" are allowed to be made. They cannot be built near spawn or off a main path unless marked.
The trap was marked, as you saw. There was no lure, no promise of riches. (For the record, a button placed opposite of wall opens door) You didn't use the door for it's intended purposes. Don't blame others for your actions.
