I would like to suggest a temporary disable of the /spawn teleporter immediately after the wipe.
This way players would have to actually explore the map and not constantly jump in until they find desired biomes. I feel this would be a good approach to evening out the field for all players, especially the ones who can't run around the map buying up everything.

Obviously this would be a temporary thing unless Intelli/staff decide otherwise.
Maybe a day or two, if not longer, so as not to deter the new players?

Hmm, this idea has merit. I think it could certainly even the playing field in some ways. It would probably center most of the realm purchases closest to spawn where ever there was public land, then out towards the edges there would be fewer people purchasing those realms. I do see your point about people wanting to just search out certain realms though.

This kind of stuff is only putting more strain on Intelli ofcourse, but you could make it so that the random teleporter teleports people to their /home if they have one and otherwise random. (This way new players can still get away from spawn as long as they haven't set their home yet)

Not necessarily - removing access to the teleporter wouldn't require removing the code that allows the teleporter to function. Implementation of this idea could be as easy as putting a dirt wall in front of the teleporter with a sign that says "Out of order. Teleporter will be available again soon." That would make your idea of teleporting to /home unworkable, though.

I voted yes, but am all for a simple solution not coding (ie just wall it off temporarily and place an "Out of Order" notice).

It may be slightly harder for newbies during that period but I'm sure the community can help them out with basic supplies for their walk away from spawn. ;)

I forgot to mention in the OP that all it requires is dirt blocking the portal >.<
Staff are the only ones that have perms to this realm anyway.

As for new players joining there are actually public realms only 400 blocks from spawn available right now.
If these wipe remains to be seen.
But the walk from spawn to public land isn't really that far at the moment.

Lets wait and see what the boss says.

I'm not yet understanding how this levels the playing field for all players. If two people jump separately into the random teleporter, they get a random location. Since it's random, it's unbiased - it's fair.

However, let's assume for a moment that everyone ran from spawn to find newly wiped land (ignoring the fact that the majority of players have /homes set away from spawn). The player with the fastest horse, the most amount of speed II potions, and the best enchanted armor will certainly have a better chance of traveling farther and faster than a player without these amenities. These factors are based on wealth and that is not fair.

Not assuming everyone lives at spawn, anyone with a /home far away from spawn will certainly have a better chance running to the nearest public land from their /home - versus going from the heart of the densely occupied spawn point. Which means the heavy majority, if the random teleporter is off, will simply explore out from their /home. The even distribution of players with /homes set across the world of MineRealm will be equivalent to just randomly exploring points around the map with the random teleporter.

Not to say I don't want someone to explain how the teleporter is unfair. I'm just confused by the argument.

TL:DR
No teleporter == everyone /home. No one actually explores out from spawn. World already has players all over the map.

Because certain players on this server will just teleport /spawn teleport /spawn until they find say clay biomes and absolutely destroy them for their own personal gain. Similar to the world map not being displayed on the forums, this is to even the field and allow all players to enjoy MineRealm in its newly wiped public infancy and explore.

Yes, the wealthy have a higher chance to take new land and get there faster than everyone else. Yes, those with far out homes have a higher chance of getting good land. But I thought the goal of a wipe was to give everyone a chance to begin new, so I think the wealthy should take that into consideration before grabbing all the land and making huge gold farms or whatever these rich people do with their time.

Give us poor folks a fighting chance.
