I logged on last night and picked up a ton of raw beef/leather and there was only a handful of cows remaining. I bred them again and logged off for the night and sealed the pen off.

I logged on again the morning still at the pen, and the cows are bugged out 1 block under the grass suffocating themselves. I could go around and break some out, but the others all suffocated again.

As you can see, there is a plenty of room and the pen is inaccessible without perms or /home.
They are also the only pen in this specific realm.

Any ideas why this keeps happening to me?

This use to happen to me all the time, I never found a legitimate reason as to why this happens, but I think maybe it has to do with overcrowding the mobs? I really don't have a clue why this occurs.

There's always the possibility that someone hacked in there or set their home there when it was accessible. And there's a mob limit of 100 per realm, but I think you already know that.

It's not someone breaking in - I finally got a picture of what happens:
Sometimes when I log in a couple are in the ground, and I have to go down there and bump them up or they suffocate.

Other animals do it too, but only the cows suffocate.

I was thinking of making my own pen of cows later...does this glitch occur because its on minerealm, or because the cows are on grass, or what? I'd like to know before I make one :/

I have some cows that I had for quite a few months now. I do notice ever since I moved some to an area I made they sometimes look like they are under it (single tile ground with like 50 tiles of nothing under them) from further away but when i get closer they are back ontop. Prob got like 10 in an 8x8 fenced off area and 6 or so in a 6x6 area.

Eah is the expert on any type of farms, especially cow farms. He owns one and they don't despawn, but people can't follow his simple instructions so whenever I go to his cow farm there are only like 8 cows in a pen.
