I log into survival, look down, and see something in the range of 400 slimes. These could not be client side slimes as i had logged into the survival server less than 30 seconds before. And this was directly beneath terranobyl, so i can imagine most citys/population centers have this problem.

I didn't want to wander around with a trans pack to avoid any claims of hacking or whatnot but i think doing so might be quite instructive if that kind of slime count is common.
I was meaning to say something about that. Yeah, the caverns below terranobyl if you /realm warp, you'll see all of the slimes he's talking about. Must kill :P

Savesthedazed,

I'm loving you profile pic of Gen T. Sherman, it makes me warm and fuzzy all on the insides. Did you know he was a red head?

Honestly, i don't think killing that many slimes will be possible. Most likley, by the time any player could get down there to kill them they would be lagging so bad they would time out, and then because they had been in the near the slimes for so long they would begin to accumulate client side slimes which would also hinder the slime extermination. Honestly, the only thing i can think to do is fill the caverns the slimes are spawning in with lava to ensure they stop spawning.

This should be the primary server wide project for a while, destroying slime nesting caverns to decrease lag.

I find it hard to believe that a couple hundred slimes are the cause of constant server crashes and restarts, however. There must be something else that we can do to enhance the performance of the Survival Server.

Depends on the pc really I had about 500 slimes in random spots on The Wolves Den last night and went down and killed them all to help out a bit.

actualy mobs don't despawn jsut because the server is crashed/down/restarting. that is why it is possible for hydrosis to have a squid tank at our railroad station.
