That's the point, giving old/rich players a use for all their excess creds.
Hero_of_time96 wrote:....The only people that would benefit from this would be the wealthy. in which case, the wealthy keep on getting more wealthy....
No, that's exactly the opposite of what is happening. There is no way to earn credits from this, so how exactly are the rich getting richer? All they get is bragging rights. Stupid inflamatory statement is stupid.
Hero_of_time96 wrote:....while other players who go solo and don't want to be a part of this country system suffer....
How exactly are you suffering? A possible increase on transaction tax? Last time I checked, we solo players don't spend a lot of time in the trade room. That kinda goes with being "solo". Moreover, solo players tend to be builders. We earn our creds with picks and shovels. The country system doesn't affect this in any way.

Edit: One last thing for all the complainers - you complain about not being able to buy glowstone, then you complain about the system that will force hoarders to liquidate. Do you think before you complain?
1. rich players get to use all their credits while they tax us and gain more credits by taking our home realm.
2. When people take your home realm, they earn all your money from your transactions, causing them to gain more and more money, besides, intelli said that he'd make it so you could take the money from all of those transactions that people make and have their home set in your country. it also contributes to the units they have so instead of spending their own money for units, you, the trader will be supplying their units with every trade you make with other players
3. Either way, every trade you make, the owner of the country that you have your home set in will get your credits from trades. i meant solo as in people who arent in a country/faction/clan/group. we have to live in a world where wealthy people can just go to your home realm and put all these units in your house and tax you 20% and then receive all this income from you when you trade with other users..

No, no one gains credits from this. Have you actually read the countries info?

Once again, no they don't get any credits. They don't take "all" your money. Their country just gets the transaction tax, which the server would be getting.

Then perhaps you should look for a country where they DON'T tax 20%? Maybe you should take some initiative and organize a resistance? In any case, I'll repeat this again: THEY DON'T GET YOUR CREDITS. The country gets funds which can never become credits.

So yes, a group of players that are aparently more dedicated to the server than you will have a little more muscle to throw against another group of players. Either way it works out, both of the rich groups will incur huge losses due to their quibbling. This in turn will REDUCE the gap in net worth between the wealthy and the not-actually-poor. Continued hostilities will then result in scarce resources re-entering the market to generate cashflow.

During no part of this do the little guys "get screwed". Seriously, how much will you actually lose from transactions? If you're not one of the really rich folks, you can't be losing much. If all your doing is purchasing rare resources, you won't lose anything. The tax is on the receiver's end, remember?

Are they hiding them under the coffe table?

As a final note, don't try to tell me the meaning of "solo". I am the solo MineRealm player at it's best, or had you forgottent that? Scrub.

So now if somebody pays 50,000 credits to get a country they could get booted off of running it!? THIS-IS-CRAP.
In my opinion, votes should be weighted based on how much a player has contributed to a country. Paying into taxes or manually adding credits to a country should determine how much say you have in a country's affairs.

But I do mostly agree with your counterpoints to the complaints made about the country system. One thing to remember though: Intelli stated in the "getting started with countries" thread that additional uses for country funds will be implemented in the future. That may or may not provide the option to eventually convert country funds to realm credits.

Intelli has said you will be able to turn them into credits later.

This is a bit old but should relieve some fears...
Intelli wrote:Country Elections
To define the 3 main leaders of a country, citizens of a country can type “/country election” to call for an election. If at least 80% of the online players (of a specific country) call for an election (a minimum of 3 players), then an election will be called.

An election will last for 24 hours, and players can vote for the new leaders of a country.

Country Captains
Leaders of a country can define (or remove) country captains. These are the players that have the ability to go out, conquer plots, fortify plots, etc. (Country leaders also have these abilities)
Just keep a high /sethome fee and don't conquer too many people that don't like you. Who else thinks NTC's "hostile takeovers" and high tax rate are about to backfire on them?
