Should players be allowed to exchange credits for cash?

The thing is EVERY credit was earned legitimately by players. I don't really know exactly how many active credits there is in the server but it isn't increasing it or decreasing it. When you buy and sell things it transfers credits on an equal plane. This would be the same.

Anyways. Even if it wasn't allowed people could advertise off server.

I agree with Surgeon completely.

Also, rl "wealth" already comes into play, when people openly purchase alt accounts to gain the in game advantage of a second /home.

BTW, who are all these kids with access to their parents' credit cards? They should be donating to the server!

Just my (virtual) $.02 on the subject.

edit: Intelli, is this going to be binding for buying in game ITEMS w/ rl money too, or just RC?

Why did I click yes? I don't know. Those who were on the server last night will have heard me complaining about my criminal insanity...

...but this, although an interesting idea (I know that the mods won't be selling them, btw), is not the sort of thing we need for minerealm. All players are equal. We don't need some to be more equal than others

-If the world we live in permits people with money to gain an "unfair advantage" then so be it on Minerealm. Otherwise, go to communism where few people work hard and everyone is treated "equally."

A capitalist economy supports the working class for earning their own wages, therefore those who work harder get more rewards later in life. Even though someone may have the wealth to buy 'credits' in Minerealm, it is always more rewarding to earn them thyself. Also, the advantage to this proposal is that it benefits both traders and 'harms' no one (unless you want to cry about unfair advantages).

By the way, I am fully republican. Abortion is murder. I believe in God not religions.

Sorry, I didn't realise that this was a unreasonable suggestions that would turn the server into a sell-out thread. Maybe we could even whitelist it and make it a pay to play going on that route.

Anyway, it comes down to if you want what is best for the server or your own personal greed. As there is no beneft whatsoever to the server if real life trading is allowed. No matter how much you twist your words.
To note, this would still be in no way officially supported by MineRealm. If you get scammed, that's your own loss
Basically, that translates to "If you loose a lot of money through someone disappearing we won't do anything about it.
Think that's stupid? Well, no. You are the ones who are allowing and voting for it. That means, if you get scammed you can't go crying to the Admins about how mean they are.
Still sounds like a good idea?

I don't much care one way or the other; even if it were allowed, I personally wouldn't buy or sell credits for IRL moneez. I'd be opposed to it except for the fact that:

I say, if people want to take the risk of losing their cash on a deal to get easy credits, let them, since our server's staff wouldn't be distracted from more important mod duties by trying to enforce an ultimately un-enforceable deal. If we end up with farmbots, that's already bannable as hax.

Hmkay.
It seems when you allow RWT or RLT to take place a few laws start popping up. If we minus the tax issue, there are a couple of ones that can be shown as a large problem that will effect players.
Games like lotteries and credit winning games will no longer be winning worthless virtual credits rather having the ability to use them as real money.
After reading up on it, this is actually covered by law as illegal internet gambling under UK and US law.

Let me just rip out a quote from Wikipedia:
"Ultimately the point is whether the thing that you win has value in money or money’s worth. If it does have value, it could be gambling."So to avoid regulation by these laws, the "operator would need to take reasonable steps to ensure that the rewards they give do not have a monetary value"possibly by demonstrating enforcement of their Terms of Service prohibiting secondary markets.
Now, are we seeing a secondary point emerge?
