I did a fair bit with BOINC before I replaced my HDD. I'll have to reinstall it and join in on the fun.

I have switched over to adding my points to the minerealm team, but I've been getting fairly large work units (Current ETA is 3 days), so it won't add to the minerealm team until that completes.


The best method to get started it to download the folding@home client, and just run with that. I highly reccomend downloading the current beta client, because it is substantially easier to get started with, and can handle running some of the more advanced functions with less set up effort. For instance, I'm folding two proteins at once, because one is on my CPU, and the other is on my GPU.

I've joined the Minerealm Folding team and I'm running 3 instances of F@H on my CPU since the GPU version said my 5770 wasn't supported even though I have 11.12 o.o

Does anyone know why even though I've completed 3 Work Units my score is 89, while Planephantaic's is at 1325 with one Work Unit completed?

Different work units earn different amounts of points.

Points are determined by the performance of a each contributor's folding hardware (CPU, GPU, etc.) relative to a reference benchmark machine. Before sending out any work units from a new Project #, we benchmark one or or more work units from that Project on a dedicated machine.

I'm hoping to contribute another 2000 by the end of the day.
