I sometimes set my home at Spawn City and then run back through the Nether to Roanoke. That way if I need to get back to Spawn City in a hurry I have a handy port right in front of the spawn building. I don't need a /home, atleast right now, in Roanoke as I have the /spawn right there.

Sure I have to run back through the Nether afterwards but I have a quick tp one way.

In this situation, I would recommend placing your /home location about halfway between the two spawns you frequently travel to. This would give you the ability to use /home, walk just a few steps toward either Roanoke or Spawn City, and use /spawn to quickly travel to either one. Since there are thousands of blocks equidistant from the two spawns, this also allows you a wide range of /home locations. However, if for some reason you would still prefer having your /home location in Spawn City, you could always just get the permission of one of the dozens of landowners there to make their realm your home with this proposed system.

I'm going to go ahead and necro/bump this thread, as I'd still love this to be implemented, and it would greatly benefit my upcoming spawn project. If it's something that may actually be considered, I would appreciate it if a staff member would be kind enough to add a poll to meet the new suggestion requirements, as I can no longer edit the original post.

Personally It wouldn't benefit me slightly as much as it would not having it added to the server.
My reasons are as follows, If I want to be a part of a realm that is about to be disbandment and I wish to claim it. If I wish to get to an area for food that is a dispenser like near spawn but a bigger better one I know off. If I wish to use a public grinder I don't have privileges for that's really far away. If I want to mark an area and don't want to travel 4k blocks in each direction to reach it. Last but not least.. I just want to /home to look at an amazing building whenever I /home.. Or even a nice pretty ride and I want a fast track pass to the top.

The reasons I feel it isn't worth it also is because.. all its doing is preventing a "troll" from achieving an act of annoyance.. In my opinion you should never (have to) feed a troll.

If someones annoying you, report it to staff, they're happy to help.
They can reset /home .. I believe.
Job done..
Instead of intelli having to code more (restart the server with down time)
And more negatives that that single positive for implementing it.

here's a brainy idea .. /realm home toggle <--- IF YOU NEED IT AND INSIST ON CHANGE.

N2Z covered most of it, but also consider how such an idea would be implemented. Would this change prevent you from placing /sethome in someone's realm, but allow you to use it if it were set in a public realm which was subsequently bought? Or, alternatively, would a check for realm building rights be performed each time you try to /home... and if this is the case, what would happen if the check fails (i.e. either someone bought the realm, or your permissions were removed by the realm owner)? In the case of factions of players, what about situations where lots of members are intended to have access to a headquarters realm, while relatively few leaders are intended to have build rights there?

With some of the complicated issues that would come with this kind of idea, I think the downside outweighs the meager benefits.
