I have secret passages in nether that require complicated redstone wiring that I would hate to repair. As easy as you said about people can just repairs the door, you completely forgot about how if they loot the redstone wiring, they completely ruin the secret passage way. This I would consider griefing since it is ruining my passage way I don't want anyone to find out.

Redstone's worth very little, so why not?

I voted yes because it isn't worth very much, and everyone has tons of it.

The whole point of certain blocks being on the lootable list is that they are (somewhat) valuable. Saying redstone is not worth much and everyone has a lot of it would be a reason to not put it on the lootable list.

If you continue on that route you could add stone bricks, slabs and wood to the list of lootable blocks as well because they are also not worth much and people have a lot of it. That would ofcourse mean Zulton's wilderness tower would be almost completely 'lootable' which I think would be a shame.

Anyway, would the contradiction of lootable items being valuable and everyone apparently agreeing that redstone is not valuable make this thread invalid?

Redstone is worth more than iron...perhaps this suggestion could only placed ore and blocks?

Redstone ore is about 8 times more common than diamond ore and redstone ore drops 4.5 times more resources than diamond ore. Based on the price of diamonds and their relative rarity, redstone should be about 25 credits per block. Iron can be as low as 10 credits per block. Maybe this will help in the decision.

I am just curious as to where you got these numbers from. Also, I was under the assumption that the lootable block list is a list of valuable blocks. Redstone certainly isn't considered valuable. Finally, iron block stacks now are 800 credits. One can buy a stack of redstone blocks for less than that(I know I do), so i wouldn't say redstone is worth more.

I regularly sell Redstone in bulk for over 100rc per stack of dust, which is more than iron ingots go for.

This graph shows distribution in an extreme hills biome, but it's safe to say the distribution is quite the same for an entire map (minus the emerald ore).
