but you can make enties unprotected or just make a diffrent coding for paintings

Paintings did stay in 2.0, but so did all the items after death.
Mobs and items are different, entities are items, mob drops.
What would change would be that items would no longer despawn, which would possibly increase lag, but paintings would stay permanently....

I have done more than enough modding to tell you that that would NOT be needed.
just make it so paintings, minecarts, and boats don't despawn, simple as that.

of course, people could craft 2000 boats and flood the server with nearly untraceable lag.
