Does it loop at all or is it strait because it is 1 mile from the start point not 1 mile riding.

Kilometer, actually, so 1000 blocks long. Which server are you thinking about doing this on?
When? Ideally we could leave it up, but there's going to be a BIG investment of gold most likely, and iron for sure, and of course time, because somebody has to lay the thing down.
Where? It might be less of a grief-magnet if it's underground, and well away from spawn.
Also, since boosters will likely be an issue, to say the least, I would suggest we all simply recall that there are engine carts we can make (a little more feasible).
I do like the idea, but we'll have to get a LOT of people working together to pull this off.

It doesn't loop yet.

It has to move 1000 blocks from the point you get in to get the achievement. I already have it. I did it on single player. Looping back lowers it again.

Wrong. It resets if you ride over the same rail twice. Nothing about getting 1km away from the starting area.

Ok I always looped on my first try. After that I went strait.
