Sup guys, we've been in the swing of having in game auctions. I myself find them to be quite annoying, and pretty spammy. I'd like auctions to be strictly forums only. Vote.

Sooo... In game auctions are versatile. They are also quite annoying. Of course it is a lot easier to bump up the price quick. I personally like helping people and bumping the price high then dropping out.

In game Auctions are faster and you Don;t have to hit the refresh button every 5 second's

either suck it up or and in game /trade chat

or the economy wont pick up imo.

also it was a bit spammy perhaps he could say<item" currenty going for <price>

Instead of auction for bla bla number bla bla current price bla bla/

which takes up 2-3 line's in chat

only need one line

Could have a compromise here.

Just have a rule that says you can't take it to far...

For example, you should only announce it every few minutes, and the minimum increment has got to be 50-100 credits... The auctions that start at 1 credit and are worth 1k+ are just dumb.

It really depends who's doing it, but even if it's a mature person who won't spam, it still ends up clogging chat quite a bit.

So really, maybe I'd rather have them not be allowed at all...

My Idea:
Maybe there could be an option to toggle viewing auctions or not?
Something like:
/auction or for short /a

Without a message, this would toggle auction chat on or off.

When you want to say something in "auction chat" you type
/auction [message]
/a [message]

Only people who have enabled auction chat would see the text. People could say in public chat when they are having an auction, and interested people could "tune in". If you don't want to be spammed by it, just "tune out". Auction chat could perhaps have a different color, maybe with a "[Auction]" prefix to the chat.

Auctions in game are a blight on those trying to follow a conversation. Its especially disruptive in the busy hours of the day where you will have 10 people bidding and the person offering the item repeating what the bid is at, essentially doubling the amount of spam shooting recklessly into a regular miner or builder's now bleeding eye balls. It is questionable at best and completely debilitating at worst. An /auction item would be ideal but the forums are perfectly suited for Auctions and should be used as such. Nobody needs to repost the current bid, post bids of the same value as the person before them, or the handful of people that pop in going "OMG WUT IT IS THAT WE R BID ON capscapscaps".

I'd prefer to keep them out of the in-game chat, due to the massive spam that seems to accompany them.

One other option would be to say that auctions may also be conducted in the in-game chat, but only within a guild's chat channel. This may not be ideal for several reasons: first, in the event of a dispute about who bid what, screenshots would have to be posted rather than just looking on the forum thread, and second, it would require any interested bidders to join the auctioneer's guild chat after leaving their original guild. It would, however, give one option for those who enjoy the fast pace of "live" / real-time auctions.

If people ask first who want,
To bid then create a guild for
Bidders and invite all bidders
That helps to.
