I feel that we lack a substantial free moving material exchange rate in minecraft so i have decided to create a price index that everyone can share. The prices will move according to the volumes of trade, readiness of supply and actual in game trading.

Since Most trades happen in game and not on the forum it would be very useful for me if people were to post the trades that they have made below.

I will only be posting for raw material prices, if you have questions about constructed items (etc tnt) please add the prices of components.

Prices indicated in Stacks of 64, Price index coming soon.

I would like to gather at least a month of data before posting the Table otherwise materials traded infrequently are prone to large inaccuracies.

I'm glad someone is trying to set a concrete economy, but you'll face some issues here.

1.) Being on a barter system, individual desire always supersedes normal pricing when making a deal. This makes it next to impossible to regulate trading, and if you can, I know I'd be one of the first to start a black market.

2.) No one will want to spend the extra five minutes to make a forum post for a trade they can make within half the time on the server. My best advice for keeping track of trades would be to note them yourself while online, or recruit others to do it in your absence. I do think that if a template were provided, some would choose to use it for little more reason than to have a contract of sorts.

3.) You'll probably be better off collecting data and making a guide to trading and speculating prices. This would be very useful to aspiring merchants or people new to the rather sporadic barter system of Minecraft.

If you're really determined, go ahead and collect all the data. Do with it what you will, but it will be an interesting study to look at.

1. Please explain what you mean by black market. Also I have already taken this into consideration and that is why the prices taken will be averages of large amounts of sales, and if demand is high then surely this indicates large demand, one of the factors causing high prices.

2. I am already taking note of trades that do go on during my online time and any help provided by other people in noting down trades and either sending the information to me or posting it here would be greatly appreciated.

3. I do not wish to create a guide as i feel that trading is not something that can be taught but rather it requires common sense and experience, helping others get into the trading market would not be in my interest, however helping people not get scammed by horendous deals is very much in my interest, also i am very interested in a bartering system and how it works since i am an economist myself.

I think that it is a good idea, but one that would face a lot of problems. I don't think there needs to be a proper system as people begin to pick up on certain prices and what they think is a good price. I think it just needs to be up to the people who are trading. Good idea though, it could make trading alot more formal.

I think the biggest reason why something like this would exist is so people have some idea what various things are being sold for. I frequently see questions like "What is the average price for stacks of obsidian? I'm trying to sell mine." It might help if these people know it sells for 8-10 diamond per stack normally. Of course these prices will change based on the participants relative desire for the object and whatnot, but this could help cut down on those types of questions.

Of course, this is by no means definitive, and if you do post a trade that is really bad, expect to get mocked. Or possibly given a large number of trade offers. You also should not try to strictly follow the prices listed. They give you an idea of the area to start your bartering in.

Why do people keep trying to change the trading system? It's good as it is.
This is not changing the system, it is mapping it out.

This is a very capitalist server, where people can determine the prices and have them set to whatever they want. As such, everyone has very different ideas, such as people (Idiots) who think that selling cobble for a diamond per 7 stacks is a great deal for the person selling cobble, while other people (Me) are selling the cobble for 4 stacks to the diamond. The last thing I need is a list that people can consort so it's even harder to rip them off.
