But then they'd have to add every single person in say, a 100-user realm  . I support the idea in its original form.

This would open up the opportunity for realm owners to sell build rights to new players for chest protection. This means new players will no longer need to build up 10k to buy a realm. However, a periodical payment by the customer would mean it may be cheaper to buy their own realm in the long run. There will also be less newbies building far from spawn avoiding thieves. Once they have enough credits, they could buy whichever realm they choose, not the one they originally settled on, far from spawn.
People can already rent out space for nothing but chests, and there shouldn't be thieves in the first place.
Excellent idea, bone!! I remember half of the first six diamonds I found mysteriously disappearing from my house in Korriban. This would stop things like that quite well, unless you trusted a thief.
I am the whirring thing past the corner. I am the darker patch under the bed. I am the tapping on your window; the extra steps on the sidewalk; the voice whispering your name. I am Stalkerbot, and I am watching you.
