I always like a new map, that's just me. It's always good fun to find clean land and start anew. I would prefer to a see vote for the new map, but there's a few problems.

1. We have no idea when this update is coming out. Maybe 1 or 2 weeks from now.
2. We have no idea if/when another update will be following this one, and if another update comes out after 1.2, we don't know if it will have new biomes or biome-specific mobs. This would require another wipe or public realm reset.

If for some reason we were to [full] wipe for 1.2, you wouldn't see another [full] wipe for a very, very long time.

Personally, I am in favor of waiting to see what the new biomes bring and if their drops are required for any new blocks. Everyone's started rebuilding after the 1.0 wipe and I think it would be a sort of kick in the face to wipe so soon afterwards.

Meh, we'll update bukkit either way - even if the seed and terrain aren't changed, the biomes will. This means new mobs will spawn over whatever landscape rests in the biome, so we'll have the drops.

I don't think a map wipe is needed for for quite some time. Waiting until Jeb says that he is done with major upgrades couldn't hurt.

That said, I would be grateful if an admin spent an hour of his time after the update to plant a stack or two of saplings in random public areas around the map. It would be nice, but I could live without it.

Edit - OOH! OOH! Maybe my realms won't be in an ocean biome anymore! AWESOME!

If there is going to be a full wipe, it needs to be saved for a bigger update. Minecraft is a game that is constantly evolving with new features being added. It would be a waste to wipe everything for just one new biiome and a new mob which doesn't have any real practical uses (as far as I could tell). Now wiping the map and keeping the private realms is another story, I'm still kind of upset I'm stuck in the middle of a giant ocean.
