Living alone is an incredible way to prevent theft from unscrupulous housemates. If you really must have them, be sure you have the necessary resources to poison them or start them on fire if they cause trouble. These tricks also work in Minecraft.
But seriously, have at least one realm where nobody but you has permissions. I personally prefer to do that for all of my realms, but having at least one to use for private storage would help prevent a lot of trouble among communities of players where everyone has access to some realms.
I do like the idea of the commands, though, for the benefit of those who participate in larger groups--it would be a good way to distinguish between leaders (full access to everything), trusted members (access to everything except promotion powers), and new/not-yet-trusted members (nothing except ability to place/remove blocks), or whatever hierarchy you want to create.
