No.. Think about it.. if one country had this much power to pass something world wide by themselves, dont you think the world would already be under control over one nation? I smell a troll..

Seriously though. There is no way that the US can get this to pass for through out the world.. the only reason MegaUpload people in New Zealand were arrested is because they had servers in the US.. any other people who have sites like this that do not have the server base in the US are safe. Trust me, DC cannot take on the entire world when im sure about 90%+ are against it. Sites outside of the US even shut down for SOPA. :T

I am, once again, indifferent. I would prefer that this not be passed, but if it did, I could deal with it.

As I understand it, this is not actually new, but rather something that started some time ago, fell out of the news cycle for a bit, and is now resurfacing. Or is this a different piece of legislation with the same acronym?

LOL. That's all I can really say to such armchair activism.

Mager is right. If any one country, especially a very powerful one such as the US, decides to take harsher actions against piracy, the pirating scene around the world would be affected--if a crackdown happens in the US, it would reduce (and try to eliminate) the flow of pirated material from US copyright owners to the rest of the world, and AFAIK do the same thing to the flow of pirated material from foreign copyright owners to US consumers.
However, this is something of a moot point. See Intelli's post--it's already been supported by many countries and is being considered by many others. Not every country in the world, by any means, but it's clearly not a unilateral decision by the US.
