Yep, throughout history, the world has always been on the brink of the end times. Generally, it's been used by the church to exert control over the masses. Lately, it's been used to sell movie tickets. Now that's progress!

Oh gosh, you guys are hilarious.

But in all honestly, the guys starting all the hype are full of bs. They're either loony, intentionally lying, or accidentally starting a "omg we're going to die!" movement. If they're loons, I feel bad for them. If they're lying, I laugh. But if people believe it EVEN when we are intelligent enough to accept something if and only if there is evidence for it, that's a pity. That just angers me and shows how utterly stupid some people can be.

Don't fool yourselves. We've come quite close to doomsday. It takes just a push of a button and we're all ashes. And a celestial object has wiped out half the planet before. And what about pathogens? There have been many movies and books playing that story. Aliens invading?...maybe the most unlikely. Hell, what'll happen when we run out of oil? Skynet? Planet of the apes? Obesity epidemic? Can we adapt? We're not far from the death of our species or the world. Just help people understand that if there's no imminent threat, there's no point in worrying about it.

I think we have a few trillion years left on this giant ass rock we call our home, and that giant-as-my-fat-uncle ball of gas called the sun :]

While predicting the end of the world is compete BS, I'd just like to point out that our sun only has about 5 billion years before it dies. The last cycle of it's life will kill us before that though.
