Well, I had done research into this supposed end of the world for many months when I first heard about it.. All that is happening is the Mayan calendar reaching it's end, nothing more.. All the hype came from Hollywood with this "2012" movie, and a fan website selling survivor tickets to some unknown island to prepare for the end of the world. The world is in no way ending anytime soon. The only thing garinteed is a few billion years in the future when the sun turns red giant and consumes most of the planets in this solar system.

People have been in 2012 long before the movie came out, and things like the yellowsotne super caldera could easily do us in at anytime...we don't have a timestamp nor will we have a timestamp, When it happens it happens, the world governments dont have ark's to save our asses. We are simply doooooooomed....

The sun is supposed tO turn black, and so will the sky. Then we will a massive tornado in each state. This is how the world will end!

Yeah our sun is relatively young, just gotta worry about asteroids, meteors and such.

Thats right, but they're very rare. Jupiter acts as a great shield/asteroid catcher for us.

Considering that the world could end at any minute with no notice whatsoever, you should spend less time worrying about when it will happen and spend more time enjoying life.

I'd say the number 1 threat to the earth currently is the proliferation of nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons by a number of countries of ill repute.

The best part about all the talk is, When people are like "EDUCATE YOURSELF!" about what's going to happen!! all the nay sayer's are going to go and if you arent ready your doomed. The mayan calender etc etc will end and the end of the world will be here. If you aren't ready you will be sorry when it happens.

My answer.

A) If the world was going to end on december 21st or whatever the date is off the top of my head i can't remember.. But If it "was" to end on that day for example. Do you Really.. really think that educating yourself about "The world ending" is going to save you.. No ticket's to an Island will save you educated or not. If it ends. We all die So who cares haha.

B) Education on the entire world ending because of what the Mayan's might of said will save only the people who know about it and not the rest of us right?

C) All the Safe Education Preparation and Bunker's/Island's/Safety Preparation with food/weapons etc, ( WILL NOT HELP YOU AT ALL IF EVERYONE DIES FROM THE WORLD ENDING) It's like monopoly. Instead of Jail you go from Alive you go to dead, Do not pass go. Do not collect 200$ and No your ration filled walls in your bunker will help you get around this.

D) Many conspiracies and other stupid things like this fail every year. Y2K and the J11-09V-G amirite?

E) Who cares. I'd rather be happy till we all randomly die from an event like this, Or naturally like everyone on the planet does every day. Or by a Pack of random Rabid wolves while I go to 7-11 for Milk.

I think we have a few trillion years left on this giant ass rock we call our home, and that giant-as-my-fat-uncle ball of gas called the sun :]

Scientifically, the sun has way less than a trillion years left. It's closer to 5 billion... But that's still a hell of a lot.

Another lunatic theory is 'polar shift'. Even if the earths magnetic field suddenly realigned, the most drastic thing we would have to do is change some compasses.

In regards to the meteor scheduled for 2025-2030, NASA has already developed technology capable f averting a meteor crisis. Also, this meteor is meant to miss earth and pass between earth and the moon... So there is really nothing to worry about. Except perhaps getting an awesome telescope to watch the show in all it's glory
