Having a Wacom tablet really helps if you're gonna color digitally. Paint bucket doesn't quite cut it.. but those tablets are pretty nice. I actually started from scratch and only a few basic vector shape tools and ended up with this a few years back:

If you like art and wanna save on markers.. I suggest getting a cheaper wacom tablet, possibly used, and digitally sketching/coloring like kingofturves suggested. The results are pretty pleasing.

hvrock, i have a wacom tablet, however.. i like naturally colored art.. digital only appeals to me if the entire thing is totally done digitally. :o

I see what you mean. When something is purely digital, do you mean without a wacom tablet/just vector graphics or tool-made raster graphics? I have tons of vector art and its amazing how good vector images can look since they're all digital and have crisp lines and solid colors. But I do prefer handmade art to be non-digitally, just because of the sketch-like feel you get from it. Hard to emulate on a computer since there's no texture to work with and things always look different on paper.

That's right it's my take on Rouge the Bat from Sonic the Hedgehog. There's 3 sources to this drawing; the pose I used was based on a manga picture which I modified to better suit Rouge and I used Lara Crofts' clothes as a referrence point. Afterall Rouge is not only a spy/thief but also a treasure hunter.

Have you ever looked into Manga Pens?

We used to use them all the time in school - they are both cheap and imo not bad for what they are.
