It's part of the 4.0 wipe. The alternative would be a full map wipe, in which you would lose all your redstone AND your building.

I'd much rather have a full wipe, and with these changes if they must. It will be more fair, and will prevent big redstone machines from being developed in the first place.

But, idk anything about causes of lag. Has there been research, about exactly what takes up the most processing power? My guess is the huge number of mobs that are being made with breeding, which are things that haven't been addressed. Perhaps server should limit number of mobs that can be bred?

+1 for full map and credit wipe!

How about we wipe mushrooms too? with the tens of thousands of them under spawn city, all constantly checking if they can spread or not they're probably using more cpu power than fire or redstone torches. Also I doubt anyone will miss them. And as for the redstone tax, I am now accepting all unwanted redstone, Ill take it off your hands for free
