I like the Idea of keeping the map and building huge cities, like frogtown. Not for the sake of shelter, or living, but more from a PvP stand point. I like the idea of different factions, and even possible wars breaking out.

i hate this new map. i lost hours maybe even DAYS of work. the statue, a huge underground city (secret pvp base). an enourmous house and sevrel other cool structures. I WANT THE OLD MAP BACK! or at least to have the statue transplanted into the new map... then i might be alright

The more I think about it, the more transplanting old map things into the new map sounds bad. I'm no expert on servers and game data, but it seems to me that copying all this over is going to cause quite a bit of downtime (and I am wholly against unnecessary downtime). Plus, you're going to run into all kinds of trouble with people possibly fighting over prime locations. Finally, won't dumping chunks into a map kind of make a jarring transition where the old and the new meet? Like I said, I'm not expert but it seems there will be more than a few problems (and headaches) from this option.

And I will totally miss my churches, but it's just as fun finding new areas to build them in.

Cant say i like the new map at all. And i'm not saying that because i built Arwic and want it back I just don't like the biome layout or the feel of it at all. the old map had so much diversity to it. To me, it felt bigger than it really was.


I was even starting to make another town "Glenden Wood" down in middle of the huge island covered in forest. Was going to be based on kind of an elven village of sorts. :3t

Anyways, i just liked the feel of the old map better. and yeah, i made the towns with the intention that not only would they be places for tired builders to socialize with each other, but also be warzones for pvpers wanting some open fighting outside of their underground lairs.

I agree with savesthedazed. No need to run into trouble with moving the cities. I love the old map. It just feels more like home. This map feels chunky, and divided.

I love the new map. I'm not new here either; I lost weeks, if not more of work, but I don't mine. Now I can build anew.

EDIT: Since I only got one vote, I'd also like to say that I wouldn't mind another new map either. The old map had a lot of cool stuff, but it was cluttered and worked over. In a new map, resources would be easy to find for everyone, and there's plenty of room to build without having to stray far from everyone.

Gekkonidae? Are you the origional creator of Arwic then?
I had found the town burning and terribly griefed, I managed to put out the fires and fully rebuild and improve the town! I added a moat to keep away monsters and a wheat garden.
May I request that if you plan on returning to Arwic that I could be a Co Mayor?
That is if they bring back the old map or transfer Arwic!

My problem with the new map, is that it seems to be a bunch of islands near spawn, and no huge continent like before. It feels like there isnt as strong of a community.


EDIT: If bringing back the old map doesnt seem like an option, I think the spawn should be moved. I dont like the present location. :oops:
