I have tried some ideas, but didn't really like them. I thought of making your name out of obsidian and filling in the spaces with nether-portal blocks, so tell me what you think of the idea. You said the other looked too clustered, so I tried something a lot simpler, I like it:

I was doing to do this the first time you requested it, but was busy. Here’s essentially how I did it, ask if there’s anything you don’t understand:
Step 1) Background- Make a black background with the fill tool. Select a different colour (whichever is the main shade of the image) for your secondary and go to the gradient tool. Select “radial” and change the opacity to a low setting (depending on how bold you want it to be). Check the box next to the gradient preview to invert the colours. Then use it to make a slight “glow” on the background.
Step 2) Stars- Make new layer called “stars” and place a small cluster of stars. Select the clone tool with the “fuzzy circle” brush and CTRL-click on the cluster. Clone some more stars over the entire space and go over it multiple times so it looks more randomized.
Step 3) Star glow- Make a duplicate layer of the “stars” layer on top of it. Go to Filters Blurs Gaussian blur and set it to around 4. This will add a nice glow to the stars. Adjust the opacity of the layer to whatever fits your preference.
Step 4) Extras- You can do pretty much anything you want with what you have. To make some of the stars more prominent, make another “stars” duplicate and erase all but what you want to be magnified. Apply another Gaussian blur. You can add custom planets, pulsars (see the blue one), auroras (see the blue one), or any other tweaks.
