The steel door is not the problem. As i mentioned Danielbeavs15 demonstrated it for me while i watched. He was able to get into the box through a two layer wall.

If i understand intelli right he seems to think that placing a block on the top of the chest will stop it. I have not had a chance to test that. But i dont see why that would be any different. If the thief can destroy the block on top for even a split second (or longer during laggy times) he may be able to access the chest before it reforms.

When i get some time later today i will visit another realm and try. I wont steal anything just test to see if it can be done.

But what i can say for sure at this point is sealed rooms are not safe. Unless the chests are far enough from the walls that they can not be reached from the outside.

i went into someone's private realm and found a 1 layer floor, stood on it, and destroyed the brick under me and it just kept putting me back up on the block, even before i saw the brick come back.

It has been said that one block is not enough to thoroughly protect a chest. Always use double chests and cover the top with two blocks. By the time the second block is removed, the first should be back. If you want to be extra safe, you could try using a block that takes longer to destroy (I'm lazy and just use dirt).

the block being there and preventing you from getting in the chest should all be server-side. not seeing the block until it pops back up sounds more like a client<->server latency thing.

first, how can you do that?

second, by sealed room, they probably mean you need to warp to get in/out without breaking blocks, as that's what what my chest room is like.
......1
4 Door 2
......3

If you want the door facing 1.
place it facing 4.
put a redstone torch a block below the door.
door will be powered open...
...or in this case....
closed.

No one should disable visitors. They may as well just play single player.

See in my private realm I live underground, all my exits are covered by multiple layers of dirt as well as any areas of my home that leave the boudries of my realm I seal off so if someone digs into those they still cannot enter my home! As for my vault it's blocked by an iron door and I always carry the switch with me and it destroy it when I'm done in the vault, since people cannot place blocks they cannot enter & even if they do, all my chests are double and covered, so good luck! I havn't lost one single item yet :D

There at first i thought you were the guy i stole from, i used the same technique to get a whole double chest of sulfur (YAY TNT!) and almost a whole double chest of arrows and another of bones.
It was a good day indeed.
I Still have not used up all the bones and arrows even though i got them a week or two ago. SO MUCH WIN.
