Ah, if they were warned then that's totally different. Ban them forever. If they are too stupid to understand a warning and a kick they are probably too stupid to be on the server. However, it should perhaps be posted on a sign in any trade room.

Also, pretty sure the things you listed fall under either no swearing or respect other players, both of which are signs posted at spawn.

As for it being morally incorrect to ambush in the trade room, it is not. There is an option to turn off pvp. Anyone not taking that option is declaring themselves open to ambushes at any time. So no, I wouldn't consider it in any way less than fully moral. PvP on is PvP on.

cerevox wrote:So this request is to ban people who broke a rule that almost no one knows even exists, is not posted anywhere, and only people who happen to have been on at the moment when Rokkr said it was a rule would be aware of?

I don't normally propose ignorance as a valid defense but it seems in this case the accused had pretty much no chance of being aware that pvp against people with pvp turned on was restricted in some zones.
I guess to me, it's more about common sense. What is the purpose of the trade area? To be a safe place where people can trade their items without worry.

So, while using common sense, does it seem right and just to kill people who go there to utilize the trade area?

Yes I would be fine with it. It has happened to me many times, I was lucky enough that the people were kind to return my items when I asked nicely. But I think it's OK. But it's their choice to be a "meanie" or not about returning the items. But if you ignored an Admin's warning then that's another story...

I highly doubt you would be fine with it if you had a high amount of items with you and they were not returned...

Well I would be. I understand it was my fault leaving myself vulnerable. Sure I'd be angry/ unhappy at first, but when the "reflex" finished, I'd understand I was the one who let this happen. Mods and Admins can't protect everyone from their own failures and mistakes. Sometimes you learn a tough lesson. Lesson learned, it won't happen again. Mods and Admins and Rules are here for things that make you unhappy, but are outside of your control, like getting lava'd in the wilderness. Getting PVP'd because you left pvp on is nobody's fault but your own, regardless of where it happened.

Well, you are almost correct. The purpose of the trade are is to meet up with your trade partner, then enter a trade room where you can be safe together and uninterrupted. The trade area was made simply for your convenience, so long as people don't interrupt an intelligent and prepared person's trade, then it is no problem. Just because you want it to be a happy slappy safe area with no worry doesn't mean it has to be. If you aren't prepared, then here just like anywhere you should be fair game. However I think the trade rooms have a obvious expectation of safety and privacy, so I'd say killing would be against the rules if it was interrupting a trade in progress. Not someone walking to there mindlessly, leaving themselves vulnerable.

EDIT: Like I said, the trade area should be off limits to "organized" pvp. But its perfectly fair game to take advantage of someone who isn't watching their backs, aka "ambushing" just like anywhere else. Just take care of your own safety, and you won't need to pester admins over trivial matters such as this, they are busy enough.

Mate the point is that people shouldn't have to worry about fighting when they are trying to trade. It is simple, don't pvp in the trade area and there won't be any problems.

Just the same, people shouldn't have to worry about fighting when they turn off pvp, anywhere. It is simple, don't leave pvp on if you don't want to be ambushed, anywhere. Then there won't be any problems.

You see? Both things solve the problems, but which takes less belly aching and which is less time consuming for already busy mods and admins? That's my point.
